Teaching Guide For Children

This is a Teaching Guide to the 41 attributes of the I Re-member books. Each attribute is an important part of life.

1     Breathing is when you let air come in and out of your body. This gives you life.

2     Happiness is when you are having a good feeling.

3     Everything in Life is always changing – and this makes life exciting!

4     Your Body is the physical part that you take with you through life. It is like having your own special library that remembers everything about you: your thoughts, feelings, memories, hopes and dreams. You should always love your body and take care of it.

5     Being Healthy is when you take care of your body. You can do this by:

  • Thinking positively and having good thoughts.
  • Breathing deeply.
  • Keeping your back straight rather than slumping.
  • Drinking lots of water.
  • Eating foods that are good for you.
  • Exercising.
  • Spending lots of time outdoors and in parks.

6     Your thoughts, words and actions create Feelings in your body. Your feelings are important because they tell you what is good for you in your life. So if something feels good, then you should do it again. And if it doesn’t feel good, then you shouldn’t do it again.

7     Love is the feeling that you get when you really, really like something. You should always love yourself first, because then you open your heart to receive more love.

8     Your Family starts in your home, then goes all the way out to every person in the world. This means that you are all part of the same family – the human family. If you can love and be nice to every person in the family, then the world will be a peaceful place.

9     Forgiveness is when you stop being upset when people hurt you or make mistakes. This makes you a better person.

10   Laughter is something that you do when you are really happy, or when you think things are funny. This makes you feel really good inside.

11  A Creator is someone who makes things happen. You are the creator. You make things happen all the time through your thoughts, words and actions.

12  Joy is the feeling you get when you are really, really happy.

13  Peace is a calm and relaxing feeling. It makes you feel good.

14   Truth is something that is real.

15   Trust is when you know that everything is going to be okay.

16   Patience is when you can wait for something to come into your life without being upset.

17   Freedom is when you can go through life easily. This will happen when you can easily be yourself, and when you can easily speak the truth. Because only the truth makes you free.

18   Intuition is your body’s way of knowing the truth. You will get a feeling in your stomach, called a gut feeling. This is like having a brain in your belly. Intuition is very important: if you trust your feelings, then you will know if you are being told a truth or a lie. So if it feels good in your stomach, then it is the truth. And if it doesn’t feel good, then it is not the truth.

19   Imagination is when you make pictures in your head of the things that you want in your life. And the more you can picture them, the faster they will happen.

20   Wisdom is when you know lots of things, and you use this knowledge to make your life better.

21   Thoughts are ideas you have about yourself and the world that you live in. And the thoughts that you repeat all the time are your beliefs. Thoughts are very powerful, because they make everything in your life happen.

You can plant thoughts in your head like seeds in a garden. And the more that you feed them by thinking about them, then the quicker they will grow into your beliefs. When this happens, you will start seeing them in your life.

A thought you might have about yourself: I do deserve love.

A thought you might have about the world: The environment is good.

22   The Words you say or write come from the thoughts that you have. You use words in your life to help you make things happen, such as asking for things.

23   Actions are the things you do in your life to make something else happen. Every action will always come back to you at a later time in your life. It’s a bit like when you bounce a ball on the ground, it always bounces back up. So you should only do the things in your life that you would want to happen to you.

24   Stretching is when you straighten parts of your body. It is a gentle and powerful way of exercising – and it gives you lots of energy!

25   Fun is when you spend time doing things you really like to do, such as playing.

26   Creativity is when you create pieces of work by painting, drawing, playing music or writing.

27   Talents are the things that you can do really well.

28   Both Genders are girls and boys, who are both special in their own way.

29   Balance is when there are equal amounts of things. Balance is important, so that everything in life is fair.

30   Giving is when you can share your things. It is a nice thing to do, and it makes you feel good inside.

31   Receiving is when you are given things, and this makes you feel good inside. You should always be grateful for everything that you are given.

32   Shelter is a place where you feel safe and protected, such as your home.

33   The Environment is outside in nature. It is filled with lots of energy. When you spent time in nature, it gives you lots of energy, too. The environment also reminds you how beautify life really is, with all the wonderful colours, sounds, smells and tastes – and things to touch.

34   Water is a very important liquid that your body needs to live.

35   Plants are very important because they provide lots of vitamins and minerals that your body needs to grow.

36   Animals are like humans, except that they come in different shapes and sizes. You should always love and be nice to animals because they have feelings, too.

37   Safety is when you are not in any danger or harm.

38   Courage is when you face all the things that scare you in your life. And when you do this, then they will go away.

39   Culture is all the things that people from the same country say or do. Every culture is special and important.

40   Sleeping is when you rest your mind and your body.

41   Everything in life has a body and a Spirit. Your spirit is the part of you that never dies: it lives on forever.
